Friends of the Library
Join the Friends of the Library
It’s easy, inexpensive and fun.
FRIENDS meet every other month for about an hour to plan ways to stimulate
library use and to encourage gifts to the library. FRIENDS often help with
library events.
Here are a few examples of the FRIENDS at work. The library receives
book donations throughout the year. The FRIENDS host a book sale,
often in conjunction with a bake sale, two or three times a year. A FRIEND
handles the cash box and baking FRIENDS donate baked goods. FRIENDS help
with special children's programming and activities and recently brought a
special Chasing 4 Life/Storm Chaser program to the library for Family
Reading Night. The FRIENDS began the aluminum can recycling donation
program at the library. A FRIEND transports the cans to the recycling
center. The FRIENDS have sponsored the Western Illinois Touring
Theatre company at Colona Grade School with monies collected from book/bake
sales and aluminum can recycling.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, September 14th at 7
p.m.
