Library Policies
First Time Library Card
Library cards will be free to residents of the Library district.
Non-residents will pay $65 for a
library card, which will include system privileges.
Replacement Cards
The replacement of lost cards will be $3.00 the first time and $5.00 for each
additional card.
Patrons who have moved or whose records have been purged may have their cards
replaced at no charged. If a card is stolen, it should be reported to the
library so a replacement card can be issued.
Free Cards
Free library cards will be issued during the months of JUNE and DECEMBER.
Fines
Fines will be .10 cents per item to a maximum of $5.00 per item. Fines start
accumulating at 10am the next library business day after the due date.
Lost Items
Patrons will be expected to pay current replacement cost plus a processing fee
for a lost item. If an item is found and returned, a refund will be given on
based on the amount paid for the item.
Damaged Items
Usable damaged items will be handled individually at the librarian's discretion.
(Fines will be charged.) Items damaged beyond use will be handled as lost items.
Length of Checkout
All items, with the exception of videos and DVD's, have a three-week checkout period. Entertainment
Videos/DVD's have a checkout period of one week. Educational Videos/DVD's have
a checkout period of three weeks. Only adults (18 or older) may checkout Videos/DVD's.
Prairie Area Library System (PALS) Membership
A Colona Public library card will be honored at other PALS libraries, which
includes most of the libraries in the immediate Quad-Cities. Patrons can request
materials from other PALS libraries be delivered to Colona Public Library for pickup.
